Iansan Kit Leaks and More - Genshin Impact

With the current Genshin Impact 5.4 update in full swing and Yumemizuki Mizuki finally joining the game, leaks about the upcoming 5.5 patch have already started circulating. According to the playerbase, Varesa and Iansan are rumored to be the next playable characters. While Iansan has previously appeared in Genshin Impact's lore, Varesa has only been name-dropped by in-game characters and developers.

Now, thanks to closed beta leaks from reputable sources, we can take a first look at Iansan’s potential kit, including her Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, Constellations, passive abilities and more.

Iansan is expected to appear as a featured 4-star character on one of the 5-star banners in Genshin Impact’s version 5.5. However, after this update, she will be added to the standard banner, allowing players to obtain her at any time. She will also occasionally return as a boosted 4-star on future limited-time banners.

Community Concerns?

As Genshin Impact players eagerly anticipated Iansan’s arrival, many hoped she would serve as a strong alternative to Bennett. However, early beta impressions suggest that her kit may not be as universally flexible as expected. While she has received some insane buffs, her full potential seems tied to specific conditions; particularly the need for a plunging attack-focused team and reliance on constellations for optimal performance.

One major concern is her buff mechanics, which require characters to be in motion to maintain properly. This makes her a better fit for highly mobile characters like Mavukia, Mualani, Chasca, Kinich, and Xilonen , Clorinde, with many players speculating that Natlan characters will synergize best with her kit. However, some testers have noted that even Neuvillette’s charged attack is too slow to fully take advantage of her buffs, further limiting her versatility.

Additionally, bow characters have little to no synergy with Iansan, as their stationary playstyle conflicts with her movement-based buffs. Another major downside is that she cannot be effectively paired with Bennett because his buff requires characters to stay within his circle, while Iansan’s kit forces players to constantly move to maintain her buffs.

With these factors in mind, Iansan’s effectiveness may depend heavily on your team composition and playstyle. Unlike Bennett, who can fit into nearly any team as a top-tier support, Iansan appears to be more team-restrictive. Given these concerns, it’s best to wait for further testing before deciding whether to pull for her. If her strengths outweigh her limitations in practice, she could still be a great addition to specific teams. But if her kit remains restrictive, she might not be the universal support players were hoping for. But still with the insane buff she got, players can try out different strategies to find the best fit.

Iansan’s Abilities and Playstyle:

Normal Attack: Weighted Spike

Iansan delivers up to three quick spear strikes when tapping the normal attack button. If you hold the button instead, she lunges forward while consuming stamina, dealing damage to any enemies in her path.Like most plunging attacks, Iansan can strike the ground below, creating an area-of-effect (AOE) impact that damages enemies caught in the radius.

Nightsoul State: Swift Stormflight

When Iansan enters her Nightsoul’s Blessing state, her charged attack transforms into the powerful Swift Stormflight. Instead of a regular charged attack, she will stomp down fiercely, consuming stamina to unleash AOE Electro damage infused with her Nightsoul energy.

Elemental Skill: Thunderous Rash

Iansan dashes forward, dealing Electro DMG to enemies in her path. After the dash, using a Normal Attack triggers "Thunderous Dive", a powerful follow-up attack that does not consume stamina. What makes this ability special is that immediately following the dash, she can perform a Normal Attack to execute a Thunderous Dive, where she literally leaps into the air and slams into opponents, delivering another Electro-infused strike.

Upon using her Elemental Skill, Iansan also enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, granting her a special “Lightning Rush” sprint.

While in this state:

Her movement speed increases.

She can jump higher than usual.

She can sprint over Liquid Phlogiston and water, adding an extra layer of mobility.

Elemental Burst: Kinetic Thunderclap

Iansan stomps the ground, unleashing a burst of AoE Electro DMG, and summons a special “Kinetic Marker.”As an added effect, she gains increased movement speed for a short duration, allowing her to reposition quickly or chase down enemies. This marker follows the active character and provides an ATK bonus based on Iansan’s Nightsoul Points:

If she has more than 42 Nightsoul Points, the ATK bonus scales with both her Nightsoul Points and her ATK.

If she has less than 42 Nightsoul Points, the bonus is only based on her ATK.

Additionally, the Kinetic Marker tracks movement and restores Nightsoul Points based on the distance traveled. If the active character is out of combat, the marker disappears after one second.

Iansan’s Constellations:

C1 – Starting’s Never Easy

While in combat and in her Nightsoul’s Blessing state, Iansan restores 15 Elemental Energy every time she consumes six Nightsoul points. This effect can occur once every 18 seconds, helping her maintain her burst potential.

C2 – Laziness is the Enemy

When Iansan casts her Elemental Burst, she automatically gains the Precise Movement effect from her Enhanced Resistance Training passive talent for 15 seconds. If she is off-field while Precise Movement is active, she will also increase the active character’s attack by 30%, giving the team an extra boost.

C3 – Scientific Diet Planning

Increases the level of Iansan’s Elemental Skill by three, up to a maximum level of 15.

C4 – Slow and Steady Wins the Race

When the Kinetic Energy Scale is present, Iansan gains two Surging Force stacks whenever another active party member (excluding her) uses their Elemental Burst. These stacks last until the Scale disappears, and she can gain one stack per summon. Whenever she restores Nightsoul points using the Scale, she consumes one Surging Force stack to restore four additional Nightsoul points. If she restores more than the maximum allowed, 50% of the extra Nightsoul points will carry over to the next time she regains them through the Scale.

C5 – We Can Push It Further

Increases the level of Iansan’s Elemental Burst by three, up to a maximum level of 15.

C6 – Teachings of the Collective of Plenty

Extends the Kinetic Energy Scale’s duration by three seconds. Additionally, if Iansan restores more Nightsoul points than she can hold, she gains the Extreme Force effect. This increases the damage of the active character by 25% for three seconds, making her a great support for boosting her team’s overall damage.

Iansan’s Passive Talents:

Passive 1:Enhanced Resistance Training

When Iansan’s Swift Stormflight attack hits an enemy, she gains the Precise Movement effect for 15 seconds. This boosts her attack by 20% and grants her an extra Nightsoul point whenever she regains Nightsoul points through the Kinetic Energy Scale in her Elemental Burst. Additionally, if any party member consumes or restores Nightsoul points, Iansan’s next Nightsoul restoration through the Scale will be increased to four points. This effect can trigger every 2.8 seconds and ends when her Nightsoul's Blessing state concludes.

Passive 2: Caloric Balancing Plan

When exploring areas in Natlan that contain Phlogiston Mechanics, Iansan will automatically recover 10 Phlogiston whenever the Phlogiston levels drop below 50%. This effect can activate once every 10 seconds, helping her maintain her energy balance.

Passive 3: Kinetic Energy Gradient Test

Whenever a party member nearby triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Iansan gains a special Warming Up effect for 10 seconds. During this time, if she restores at least one Nightsoul point, she will also heal the current active character for 60% of her attack. This healing effect can be triggered once every 2.8 seconds, adding extra sustain to the team.

Passive 4: Night Realm’s Gift: Hard Work and Drive

Once Iansan’s Nightsoul points are fully depleted while she is on the field, she will start using Phlogiston to maintain her Nightsoul’s Blessing state. When exploring Natlan’s Phlogiston-powered areas, Iansan can use Nightsoul Transmission, which activates when the active character is sprinting, using specific movement-based Talents, or at a certain airborne height. Switching to Iansan during these moments will immediately put her in Nightsoul’s Blessing state and grant her 25 Nightsoul points. This effect can trigger once every 10 seconds, offering a strategic way to keep her powered up in battle.
