Varesa’s Background and Lore:

Varesa is a character from Natlan. She was mentioned in the Weary-Inn announcement bulletin board, hinting that she is well-known in her home region.

Varesa's Appearance: During the 5.3 Livestream, silhouettes of new characters were revealed, and Varesa’s silhouette was shown, suggesting her potential addition to the game soon.

Affiliation with the Collective of Plenty: Varesa is part of the Collective of Plenty, a group connected to Saurian creatures, which are cow-like monsters. This connection suggests that her design might be inspired by bulls or cows.

Rising Star in the Collective: Varesa is celebrated for her achievements in competitive eating. She participated in the 242nd 'Inferno Stomach Supremo Competition', where she was a rising star from the Collective of Plenty, even winning the crown of Supremo in the preliminary competition.

A Love for Food: Varesa is well-known for her love of food, especially in eating large quantities. During the 243rd 'Inferno Stomach Supremo Competition', she ate an astounding 80 servings of Blazed Meat Stew. She’s also known to frequently order a party tray for eighty while traveling with her companion Mavuika.

Varesa's Kit

Element: Electro

Weapon: Catalyst

Rarity: 5-Star

Normal Attack: By the Horns

Varesa’s Normal Attack consists of up to three quick strikes that deal Electro Damage. These attacks are her basic form of offense, but things get more interesting when you hold down the attack button.

Tap: Varesa performs up to three strikes, dealing Electro Damage with each hit.

Hold: When you hold the Normal Attack button, Varesa charges forward and headbutts enemies in front of her, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Electro Damage and propelling herself into the air.

In addition to these basic attacks, Varesa's Plunging Attack allows her to leap into the air and perform an AoE Electro Damage attack on impact, damaging opponents along her path. Upon landing, she will gain Nightsoul Points if she’s in combat, and her Fiery Passion state will activate once she reaches maximum Nightsoul Points.

Fiery Passion State

While in Fiery Passion, Varesa gains special buffs to her attacks. This state is triggered by reaching full Nightsoul Points, either by performing Plunging Attacks or using her Elemental Burst.

Normal Attacks: Her basic strikes become more powerful, dealing enhanced Electro Damage.

Charged Attacks: These attacks become stronger, with added Nightsoul-aligned Electro Damage and greater impact.

Plunging Attacks:

Varesa’s Plunging Attack becomes more devastating, using all her Nightsoul Points to deal massive AoE Nightsoul-aligned Electro Damage.

Elemental Skill: Riding the Night-Rainbow

Varesa’s Elemental Skill, Riding the Night-Rainbow, is where her unique mobility shines. In this skill, Varesa rushes forward a certain distance, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Electro Damage to any opponents she passes through. This is perfect for closing the gap between enemies or quickly repositioning on the battlefield.

Effect: After using her Elemental Skill, Varesa gains 20 Nightsoul Points and activates the Follow-Up Strike effect.

Follow-Up Strike: While in this state, Varesa gets a boost in Interruption Resistance, meaning she’s less likely to be knocked out of her actions. She also gains the ability to perform a Charged Attack without consuming any Stamina. The Follow-Up Strike effect has two different modes based on whether you tap or hold the skill:

Tap: Varesa dashes forward a certain distance, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Electro Damage to enemies in her path.

Hold: Varesa enters her Nightsoul's Blessing state and activates Sudden Onrush mode.

Sudden Onrush

In Sudden Onrush, Varesa continuously consumes Nightsoul Points, but she becomes much more agile and resilient. Her Movement Speed is increased, and she gains the ability to perform flying leaps using terrain. Additionally, she can travel over water or liquid Phlogiston without taking damage, as long as she has Nightsoul Points to spare. This gives her an excellent edge in exploring and fighting in different terrains.

Elemental Burst: A Dazzling Descent!

Varesa’s Elemental Burst, A Dazzling Descent!, is a high-flying, AoE damage dealer. Varesa leaps into the air, and with the momentum from her jump, she performs a powerful flying kick that deals Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro Damage to all opponents within range. After using her Burst, Varesa's Nightsoul Points are restored to their maximum, and she enters the Fiery Passion state if she wasn't already in it.

Effect in Fiery Passion:

While in the Fiery Passion state, Varesa’s Elemental Burst deals even more damage, enhancing her overall AoE Nightsoul-aligned Electro Damage.

Apex Drive: After using a Plunging Attack in the Fiery Passion state, Varesa activates Apex Drive, a powerful buff that boosts her Interruption Resistance and reduces the Energy Cost for her Elemental Burst.

Apex Drive Special Plunging Attack

When Apex Drive is active, Varesa can perform a special Plunging Attack called Thunderous Tornado Eruption. This plunge hits opponents in its path and deals Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro Damage upon landing, dealing even more damage than usual.

Passives: Boosting Varesa’s Abilities

Varesa’s passive abilities offer some exciting benefits that further enhance her versatility in battle and exploration.

Tag-Team Triple Jump:

After using her Elemental Skill, Varesa gains Rainbow Crash for 5 seconds. During this time, her Plunging Attack Shockwave damage is increased by 25%. If Varesa is in the Fiery Passion state, this damage boost increases to 50%.

Blazing Heart, Singular Advance:

Varesa’s Sprint Speed is increased, and her Sprint Stamina consumption is reduced while out of combat. Additionally, when in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics in Natlan, Varesa helps party members restore 20 Phlogiston when consuming food. This effect triggers once every 10 seconds and cannot be activated in Domains or the Spiral Abyss.

Night Realm’s Gift:

When Nightsoul Points are fully depleted, Varesa switches to using Phlogiston to maintain her Sudden Onrush mode. In areas with Phlogiston Mechanics, Varesa can trigger Nightsoul Transmission, allowing her to enter Nightsoul's Blessing and instantly gain 20 Nightsoul Points when switching to her. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds and is triggered when moving or using certain Talents.

Varesa Constellations:

Varesa's Constellations can be unlocked by obtaining duplicates of her through wishes. Each Constellation increases her power and enhances her abilities in unique ways, from boosting her damage potential to enhancing her elemental skills and passive talents.

C1 - Undying Passion

This Constellation enhances Varesa’s Passive Talent "The Tag-Team Triple Jump!" While Rainbow Crash is active, her plunging attack ground impact will deal 50% increased damage, regardless of whether she is in the Fiery Passion state.

Additionally, when switching into Fiery Passion or when it ends, Varesa’s attack will be boosted by 35% for five seconds.

Lastly, while in the Sudden Onrush mode of her Nightsoul's Blessing, she will consume 30% fewer Nightsoul points or Phlogiston.

C2 - Beyond the Edge of Light

At C2, Varesa automatically enters the Apex Drive mode after performing a plunging attack, regardless of whether she is in the Fiery Passion state. While Apex Drive is active, Varesa's Interruption Resistance increases further, providing her with better stability during combat.

Additionally, when her plunging attack ground impact hits an opponent, she restores 11.5 Energy.

C3 - Unbowed Resolve

This Constellation increases the level of Varesa’s Elemental Burst by three, with the maximum level reaching 15. This helps boost the damage and effectiveness of her Burst, providing more power in combat.

C4 - The Courage to Press On

Varesa gains different buffs depending on her state when using her Elemental Burst:

If neither Fiery Passion nor Apex Drive are active, she will gain Diligent Refinement for 15 seconds. This effect increases her plunging attack ground impact damage by 500% of her attack, with a cap of 20,000 damage. The effect ends either when the ground impact hits an opponent or when the duration expires.

However, if Fiery Passion or Apex Drive is active, her Elemental Burst deals 100% increased damage.

C5 - Thoughts Floating on the Warm Breeze

At C5, Varesa’s Normal Attack level is increased by three, with a maximum upgrade level of 15. This boosts her basic attack damage, making her overall kit more versatile.

C6 - A Hero of Justice's Triumph

At C6, Varesa gains a set of powerful effects:

Energy Restoration:

She restores 30 Energy upon entering Apex Drive.

Increased Crit Rate and Damage:

While Apex Drive is active, both plunging attacks and her Elemental Burst gain 10% Crit Rate and 100% Crit Damage.

Nightsoul Points Restoration:

When holding or tapping the Elemental Skill button while in Sudden Onrush mode, she will restore Nightsoul points up to her maximum capacity.

These Constellations greatly enhance Varesa’s potential in battle, making her a strong and versatile character, especially with her ability to manipulate Nightsoul points and plunging attacks. Even though some changes may occur before her official release, but these upgrades definitely make her a promising addition to any team.

Varesa’s Best Team Compositions

Varesa excels as a Main DPS with a focus on Plunging damage. For optimal performance, her team composition should include supports that buff her Plunging damage or help enable her ability to deal high damage.

Here’s a potential team composition that maximizes her strengths:

Main DPS: Varesa

Sub DPS: Furina

Support: Iansan

Support: Xianyun

Xianyun is a powerful support due to his ability to buff Plunge damage, which synergizes perfectly with Varesa’s playstyle. Furina is another great support, enhances Varesa's damage potential, creating strong synergy between the two.

This team is likely to be Varesa’s best composition for now, though team setups can always change as more beta testing and adjustments take place.

Keep an eye out for her official release in future updates, and don’t forget to farm the necessary materials to fully upgrade her when she becomes available.

Good luck in your wish sessions, and happy adventure travelers!
