Clorinde Build Guide - Genshin Impact

The latest Genshin Impact banner is here, featuring two highly anticipated 5-star characters, Arlecchino and Clorinde, along with the debut of the new 4-star character, Lan Yan. This banner brings an exciting mix of powerful characters and enticing pull options, leaving many players debating which one to prioritize. While we’ve already explored Arlecchino and Lan Yan in previous articles, let’s turn the spotlight on Clorinde, diving into her potential, her kit, and whether she’s worth pulling for in this event.

The 5-star Electro sword wielder, Clorinde with her dynamic kit revolving around the innovative Bond of Life mechanic, is poised to stand out as an Electro DPS powerhouse. However, her playstyle demands precision, strategy, and a good understanding of team synergy to unlock her full potential.

Clorinde's Mechanics and Bond of Life

Clorinde’s playstyle heavily revolves around her Elemental Skill, which allows her to enter the "Night Vigil" state. This is similar to Tartaglia’s stance in that her Normal Attacks are altered, converting into Electro damage. However, unlike Tartaglia, Clorinde's Elemental Skill has a fixed cooldown duration. While in Night Vigil, her Elemental Skill turns into a lunging attack.

While in this state, Clorinde's Normal Attacks generate 35% of her Bond of Life, as long as her current Bond of Life is below 100% of her maximum HP. Additionally, any healing she would normally receive during this time is converted into Bond of Life instead. The lunging attack has three stages that depend on how much Bond of Life has been generated. The damage of the lunging attack increases with each stage. The first stage happens if no Bond of Life has been generated, and it only deals damage. The next two stages, however, convert the Bond of Life cleared into healing. All the damage dealt by her Elemental Skill is considered Normal Attack damage, meaning any %Skill DMG modifiers do not apply.

At first glance, Clorinde's skill multipliers may seem low. However, her 1st Ascension talent significantly boosts her damage output. Every time an Electro-based Reaction occurs, Clorinde gains a buff that can stack up to three times. This buff increases her Electro damage from Normal Attacks and Elemental Burst, adding extra damage equal to 20% of her Attack (up to a maximum of 1800). This bonus is a base damage increase, meaning it is applied before any other % damage modifiers.

Clorinde’s Best Weapons and Artifacts in Genshin Impact

Building Clorinde as an Electro DPS requires careful selection of weapons and artifacts to maximize her potential. With her unique Bond of Life mechanic, optimizing her kit ensures high damage output and smooth gameplay.

Best Weapons for Clorinde

1. Absolution (Best-in-Slot)

Clorinde’s signature weapon, Absolution, is the strongest option for her. This CRIT DMG-scaling sword not only boasts one of the highest base ATK stats among swords but also enhances CRIT DMG further through its passive effect.

  • The passive ability complements Clorinde’s Bond of Life mechanic, increasing her overall damage.

  • The weapon’s effect is easy to maintain due to Clorinde’s natural ability to generate and utilize Bond of Life efficiently.

  • It ensures consistent critical hits, which are vital for a high-performing DPS build.

If Absolution is unavailable, consider the following alternatives:

2. Mistsplitter Reforged (5-star)

  • Offers a strong CRIT DMG boost.

  • Provides a consistent Elemental DMG bonus when Clorinde maintains Electro infusion through her kit.

  • Activates its passive effect easily when using Elemental Burst on cooldown, ensuring high DPS consistency.

3. Haran Geppaku Futsu (5-star)

  • Grants high CRIT Rate (33.08% at level 90), which can reduce the need for CRIT Rate from artifacts.

  • While strong, Clorinde’s kit already provides ample CRIT Rate, making additional CRIT Rate stacking less efficient.

4. The Black Sword (Battle Pass - 4-star)

  • A reliable affordable alternative that enhances Normal Attack damage.

  • Provides occasional healing, which gets converted into Bond of Life during Night Vigil mode.

  • Includes a moderate CRIT Rate boost, allowing more focus on CRIT DMG in artifact selection.

5. Calamity of Eshu (4-star)

  • A strong pick if Clorinde has a reliable shield.

  • If shield uptime is inconsistent, consider other alternatives.

6. Finale of the Deep (4-star)

  • A viable alternative when shield support is not available.

  • Provides a solid balance between damage output and survivability.

Best Artifacts for Clorinde

1. Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy (Best-in-Slot)

This new artifact set is tailor-made for Clorinde, significantly boosting her damage potential. It synergizes perfectly with her Electro-infused playstyle and enhances her Bond of Life-based mechanics.

2. Gladiator’s Finale (Alternative Option)

  • An easier-to-farm option, available from world bosses.

  • Increases ATK%, making it a consistent DPS boost.

  • Though not as ideal as Harmonic Whimsy, it remains a strong backup choice.

3. Thundering Fury (Situational)

  • Useful for Aggravate team compositions.

  • Reduces Elemental Skill cooldown, potentially extending her rotation.

  • May lower overall DPS depending on team synergy and playstyle.

Artifact Stat Priorities

Main Stats:

  • Sands: ATK%

  • Goblet: Electro DMG Bonus

  • Circlet: CRIT DMG (or CRIT Rate, if needed)

Substats Priority:

  1. CRIT DMG

  2. ATK%

  3. Energy Recharge

  4. CRIT Rate (only if necessary for balance)

Energy Recharge Considerations:

While Energy Recharge is not Clorinde’s primary focus, ensuring she can use Elemental Burst frequently is beneficial. Her Bond of Life mechanics work best when she has access to her full kit, making some Energy Recharge investment useful.

To maximize Clorinde’s Electro DPS potential, Absolution remains the best weapon choice, followed by Mistsplitter Reforged and Haran Geppaku Futsu. If 5-star weapons aren’t available, The Black Sword or Finale of the Deep serve as solid alternatives. Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy is the ideal artifact set, though Gladiator’s Finale remains a reliable fallback.

By prioritizing CRIT DMG, ATK%, and Energy Recharge, players can ensure Clorinde remains a powerful and efficient DPS in any team composition.

Clorinde’s Talents:

Normal Attack: Oath of Hunting Shadows

Clorinde performs up to five consecutive sword strikes. The third hit delivers two attacks, while the fourth hit deals three attacks.

Charged Attack: She consumes 20 stamina to dash forward, slashing and firing her pistol in a fan-like motion.

Plunging Attack: Clorinde plunges from the air to strike the ground, dealing AoE Electro damage to enemies in her path.

Elemental Skill:

Hunter's Vigil

Clorinde equips her pistol and enters the "Night Vigil" state, combining steel and gunfire.

While in this state:

Her normal attacks are transformed into Swift Hunt pistol shots, dealing Electro damage. This cannot be overridden by elemental infusions.

Her Elemental Skill changes to Impale the Night, where she lunges forward, dealing Electro damage. The damage dealt is treated as normal attack damage.

Swift Hunt

When Clorinde’s Bond of Life is 100% or more of her maximum HP, her pistol fires a standard shot.If her Bond of Life is below 100%, shooting with the pistol restores her Bond of Life, with the amount restored based on her max HP. The shot can pierce through enemies, and the damage to enemies in its path is increased.

Impale the Night

When Clorinde uses Impale the Night, the amount of her Bond of Life cleared influences the attack’s effects. No Bond of Life Cleared: Performs a regular lunging strike.

Bond of Life Cleared < 100%: Increases AoE and damage dealt, and heals Clorinde based on the Bond of Life cleared.

While in the Night Vigil state, healing effects are replaced with Bond of Life, which converts any healing into a percentage of the healing that would have occurred.

Arkhe: Ousia

Clorinde’s pistol shots periodically summon a Surging Blade, which strikes the enemy's position and deals Electro damage aligned with Ousia.

Elemental Burst: Last Lightfall

Clorinde gains a Bond of Life based on her max HP and quickly evades before launching a combined attack with her saber and pistol, dealing AoE Electro damage.

Clorinde's Ascension Passives:

Clorinde comes with unique passives that enhance her combat capabilities and exploration within Fontaine. Here's a detailed look at her passives and the resources needed to fully ascend her.

Night Vigil's Harvest

Unlocked upon obtaining Clorinde, this passive displays the location of nearby resources specific to Fontaine on the mini-map, making exploration and farming much easier.

Dark-Shattering Flame (1st Ascension)

When a nearby party member triggers an Electro-related reaction, Clorinde’s Normal Attacks and Last Lightfall deal additional Electro DMG equal to 20% of her ATK for 15 seconds. This effect stacks up to three times independently, with a maximum damage boost of 1,800.

Lawful Remuneration (4th Ascension)

If Clorinde’s Bond of Life equals or exceeds 100% of her Max HP, her CRIT Rate increases by 10% for 15 seconds whenever her Bond of Life value changes, whether it increases or decreases. This effect can stack twice independently. Additionally, when Clorinde is in the Night Vigil state, 100% of external healing received is converted into Bond of Life.

As Clorinde ascends, she gains CRIT Rate as a bonus stat, reaching a total of 19.2% CRIT Rate at her maximum level.

Team Compositions for Clorinde

Clorinde shines when paired with teams focused on Electro-based reactions, thanks to her first Ascension passive. Whether you're triggering Aggravate, Hyperbloom, Electro-Charged or even Overload, she plays a versatile role as an Electro DPS or driver. Here are some effective team compositions that highlight her strengths:

1. Clorinde’s Aggravate Team

For an Aggravate composition, Clorinde can pair with a Dendro enabler like Nahida to trigger reactions consistently. Supporting her with sub-DPS characters such as Fischl, Yae Miko, or Kujou Sara helps amplify her Electro DMG output. The final team slot offers flexibility:

Sucrose or Kaedehara Kazuha can group enemies while reducing their resistance with the Viridescent Venerer artifact set, making them excellent choices for crowd control.

Zhongli can provide a powerful shield, enhancing survivability and offering comfort during challenging fights.

This team setup focuses on optimizing Electro-Dendro synergy while ensuring Clorinde remains safe to execute her rotations effectively.

2. Clorinde’s Quickbloom Team

A Quickbloom composition utilizes Clorinde’s Electro application alongside a Dendro and Hydro enabler. Nahida takes the role of a Dendro core, while Hydro characters like Furina or Yelan create the Bloom reaction. Clorinde then triggers Hyperbloom by applying Electro to the seeds generated by Bloom.

This setup works especially well because it combines Clorinde’s DPS potential with powerful reaction damage. Fischl can also contribute additional Electro application, making the team highly effective for both single-target and AoE situations.

3. Clorinde’s Electro-Charged Team

An Electro-Charged team allows Clorinde to take advantage of constant Hydro application from characters like Furina and Yelan. By combining their abilities, this team applies Hydro across multiple enemies, enabling Clorinde to trigger Electro-Charged consistently.

For support, Jean serves as an excellent choice due to her ability to shred resistances with Anemo while healing the team. Additionally, Anemo characters like Sucrose can spread elements, further amplifying Clorinde’s reaction-based damage output.

4. Clorinde’s Overload Team

In an Overload team, Clorinde works well with Pyro enablers like Xiangling or Bennett to create explosive AoE damage through the Overload reaction. Sub-DPS options such as Fischl or Yae Miko enhance Electro application, ensuring a steady flow of reactions.

For additional protection, a shield provider like Zhongli or Thoma can help mitigate the knockback effect caused by Overload. Zhongli also reduces enemy resistances, boosting overall damage, while Thoma provides both shielding and Pyro application. This team thrives in situations with grouped enemies, offering a flashy, high-damage playstyle for players who enjoy explosive combat.

Clorinde's Constellations:

While Clorinde's constellations are not strictly essential for her overall playstyle, they do significantly enhance her damage potential, especially her C1. If you’re planning to invest in Clorinde by rolling for multiple copies or her signature weapon, C1 is a highly recommended starting point, as it offers a larger power boost compared to upgrading weapons like Finale of the Deep. Her C2  is also an excellent follow-up, offering a substantial boost without relying on later constellations. However, C3 to C5 are relatively underwhelming in terms of damage improvement, while C6 provides a noticeable impact on her performance.

Here’s a breakdown of Clorinde’s constellations and their effects:

C1: From This Day, I Pass the Candle's Shadow-Veil

When Clorinde's Hunter's Vigil activates the Night Vigil state, her Normal Attacks that deal Electro DMG trigger two coordinated attacks from a Nightwatch Shade, summoned near the struck enemy. Each attack deals 30% of Clorinde's ATK as Electro DMG.

This effect occurs once every second and counts as Normal Attack DMG.

Impact: Significantly increases sustained DPS during the Night Vigil state.

C2: Now, As We Face the Perils of the Long Night

Enhances Clorinde's Passive Talent: Dark-Shattering Flame:

When a nearby party member triggers an Electro-related reaction, Clorinde's Normal Attack DMG and Last Lightfall DMG are increased by 30% of her ATK for 15 seconds.

This effect can stack up to 3 times, providing a maximum DMG boost of 2,700.

When 3 stacks are active, Clorinde gains interruption resistance.

Note: To unlock this effect, the passive talent Dark-Shattering Flame must already be unlocked.

Impact: Elevates her performance in teams focused on elemental reactions, making her more versatile.

C3: I Pledge to Remember the Oath of Daylight

Increases the talent level of Hunter’s Vigil by 3, up to a maximum level of 15.

Impact: A slight boost to damage output, though not as impactful as C1 or C2.

C4: To Enshrine Tears, Life, and Love

When Last Lightfall hits an enemy, its DMG is increased based on Clorinde’s current Bond of Life percentage:

Every 1% of Bond of Life increases Last Lightfall’s DMG by 2%, up to a maximum of 200% DMG increase.

Impact: This provides a situational boost, but its reliance on Bond of Life management limits its effectiveness.

C5: Holding Dawn's Coming as My Votive

Increases the talent level of Last Lightfall by 3, up to a maximum level of 15.

Impact: Offers a modest increase in burst damage but doesn’t drastically affect her gameplay.

C6: And So Shall I Never Despair

For 12 seconds after using Hunter's Vigil, Clorinde gains the following:

+10% CRIT Rate and +70% CRIT DMG.

During the Night Vigil state, a Glimbright Shade will appear under certain conditions:

When Clorinde is about to be attacked by an enemy.

When she uses Impale the Night: Pact.

The Glimbright Shade provides:

80% damage reduction for 1 second and increased interruption resistance.

It also attacks enemies, dealing 200% of Clorinde’s ATK as Electro DMG, which counts as Normal Attack DMG.

Maximum Shades: 6 can be summoned per Night Vigil duration, with a cooldown on their summoning.

Impact: C6 transforms Clorinde into a powerhouse, granting massive boosts to survivability, damage, and utility.

Is Clorinde Worth Pulling?

Before investing Primogems into Clorinde’s banner, it is crucial to evaluate whether she aligns with your playstyle and team composition. To make an informed decision, let’s analyze the pros and cons of pulling for Clorinde.

Pros of Pulling for Clorinde

1. High Electro Damage Output

Clorinde’s transformed attacks and Elemental Burst allow her to deal consistent and impactful Electro damage, making her a strong main DPS option. Her Bond of Life mechanic ensures that she remains on the field dealing sustained damage.

2. Self-Sustain Through Bond of Life

Unlike most DPS characters, Clorinde does not rely on a dedicated healer. Instead, her Bond of Life mechanic converts healing into a defensive buffer and periodic regeneration, allowing her to maintain her health while staying in combat.

3. Versatile Team Synergy

Clorinde excels in Electro-reaction-based teams, particularly in Hyperbloom, Aggravate, and Overloaded compositions. Her abilities enable her to trigger reactions efficiently, making her a flexible option in various team setups.

4. Unique and Rewarding Playstyle

Clorinde’s reliance on Bond of Life adds a layer of depth to her gameplay, making her an exciting character for players who enjoy mastering intricate mechanics.

5. Strong Future Potential

With Electro being a key element for reactions, Clorinde’s value may increase as new characters and team synergies emerge in future updates.

Cons of Pulling for Clorinde

1. Challenging Rotation

Managing Bond of Life effectively requires precise timing and skill execution. Her Night Vigil state lasts only 7.5 seconds, limiting her damage window and requiring players to optimize her rotations carefully.

2. Dependence on Synergy

Clorinde performs best when paired with characters that can trigger Electro reactions or support her unique playstyle. Without the right teammates, her damage potential may feel underwhelming.

3. No External Healing During Night Vigil

While in Night Vigil, Clorinde cannot receive healing from external sources. This makes her vulnerable in high-damage situations where self-sustain may not be enough.

Clorinde vs. Arlecchino: Which One Should You Pull For?

Clorinde and Arlecchino serve similar roles as high-damage dealers, but their execution and playstyles differ significantly. Choosing between them depends on several factors:

1. Elemental Advantage

  • Clorinde excels in Electro-based reactions such as Hyperbloom and Aggravate.

  • Arlecchino shines in Pyro-focused teams centered around Vaporize and Melt.

2. Ease of Use

  • Clorinde’s Bond of Life system demands more precision and practice to maximize her potential.

  • Arlecchino features a more straightforward combat style, making her easier to master.

3. Team Composition Consideration

  • If you lack an Electro DPS, Clorinde is an excellent investment.

  • If your team is missing a strong Pyro main carry, Arlecchino may be the better choice.

Final Thoughts: Should You Pull for Clorinde?

Clorinde is a fantastic addition to Electro-focused teams, offering a refreshing take on the DPS role with her Bond of Life mechanic. She rewards players who invest time in mastering her unique rotation and provides a satisfying balance of damage, self-sustain, and synergy potential.

However, her reliance on team synergy and precise execution may not appeal to all players. If you prefer a simpler DPS or require a Pyro main carry, Arlecchino may be a better choice.

For players who enjoy high-risk, high-reward mechanics and are willing to adapt their playstyle, Clorinde is a strong investment capable of delivering immense value to any team.

No matter who you choose, good luck with your pulls, and may your wishes bring you success!
