New Characters in Genshin Impact 5.5
Version 5.5 introduces two exciting new characters from Natlan, Varesa, a 5-star Electro Catalyst user, and Iansan, a 4-star Electro Polearm user. Both bring a fast-paced, highly mobile combat style that adds a fresh layer of excitement to the game.
Varesa:

Varesa is a warrior from the Collective of Plenty, the sixth and final Natlan tribe. With her sweet, cutesy appearance, one might mistake her for a delicate soul, but in reality, she possesses immense strength and an insatiable appetite for combat. Her fighting style is unlike anything we've seen before, emphasizing swift dashes, aerial maneuvers, and powerful Plunging Attacks. She is incredibly agile, always on the move, She has made herself a mask modeled after the one her idol hero wore and when she wears that, her clumsy demeanor completely changes turning her into a powerful combat mode.

Her abilities are designed around Plunging Attacks, a mechanic rarely at the center of any character’s kit in Genshin Impact. Every time she lands a Plunging Attack, she gains Nightsoul Points, which, when accumulated, allow her next attack to deal an explosive burst of damage. This makes her gameplay incredibly rewarding, as chaining attacks seamlessly increases her power. What sets her apart from other Natlan characters is her advanced form-swapping mechanic, making her one of the most dynamic DPS units in the game.

Varesa also shares a special bond with Iansan, who happens to be her mentor. The two complement each other beautifully in battle, as Iansan’s abilities provide buffs that further enhance Varesa’s already formidable damage.

Iansan:

Iansan was one of the first Natlan characters ever introduced, and after years of anticipation, she is finally stepping into the spotlight as a playable character. Unlike Varesa, whose strength lies in her relentless offense, Iansan takes on a more supportive role, but that does not mean she’s any less impressive. As a 4-star Electro Polearm user, she provides off-field ATK buffs to her teammates, making her an excellent choice for those who want a versatile and flexible support unit.

Her buffing ability is unique in that it doesn’t rely on a fixed area like many other supports. Instead, the strength of her buffs scales based on how much distance the active character travels, making her ideal for high-mobility teams.

Beyond her role as a support, Iansan is also a remarkable explorer, thanks to her special dashing ability that can be used outside of combat. She and Varesa both possess movement mechanics that allow them to cover large distances quickly, break obstacles, and even solve environmental puzzles. This makes them invaluable for exploring Natlan’s rugged landscapes, where mobility and speed often make all the difference.

New Area: The Collective of Plenty

With Genshin Impact 5.5, Travelers will finally have the chance to explore Natlan’s sixth and final tribe, known as The Collective of Plenty. This unique tribe resides at the base of an active volcano, making it the perfect home for thrill-seekers and adventurers.
If you've been exploring Natlan, you may have already spotted the Great Volcano of Tollan erupting in the distance. Now, you can venture into its depths, scale its rocky exterior, and even discover the floating islands suspended above it. Hidden within the volcano lies the sacred city of Tollan, a mysterious location brimming with secrets waiting to be uncovered.

This volcanic region also plays a significant role in the Tepetlisaurus questline. Your adorable reptilian companion must journey to the volcano as part of his story, meaning the final chapter of his quest will unfold here. Completing this quest, along with other exploration challenges, will reward players with up to 400 Primogems a perfect incentive for those saving up for the latest banners!

New Saurian: Tatankasaurus
A new area in Natlan wouldn’t be complete without new wildlife, and Version 5.5 introduces a brand-new Saurian species—the Tatankasaurus. These large, bulky, and powerful creatures resemble a mix between a Triceratops and a rhinoceros, giving them a majestic yet rugged appearance.

Tatankasaurus are gentle giants, known for their adorable yet formidable nature. Their signature ability is a high-speed dash, which allows them to break through obstacles or push objects in their path. It remains to be seen if players can interact with them in battle, but they are sure to add even more personality to Natlan’s diverse ecosystem.
New World Boss: Lava Dragon Statue

A new world boss will debut in Version 5.5, offering Varesa’s Ascension materials. This powerful foe, known as the Lava Dragon Statue, is a larger, more menacing version of the Avatars of Lava found throughout Natlan.
Like its smaller counterparts, the Lava Dragon Statue is deeply connected to Pyro energy, meaning that fire might be the key to defeating it. Players may need to bring a Pyro character to counteract its mechanics and trigger its form changes during battle. If you’re planning to build Varesa, this boss fight will be crucial in obtaining the materials needed for her upgrades.

New System Updates in Genshin Impact 5.5
In addition to new events, Version 5.5 introduces several quality-of-life updates designed to enhance the gameplay experience.
Artifact crafting improvements:
Better Enhancement for Crafted Artifacts
The most exciting system change. Custom artifacts crafted using Sanctifying Elixirs will now guarantee at least two rolls into the selected substats.
While it’s unclear if each substat will get at least one roll or if both guaranteed rolls can go into the same substat, this update should help reduce bad luck in artifact upgrading.Crafted artifacts will also be marked in your inventory, making them easier to track and filter.Even with these improvements, there’s always a little RNG involved, so players may still experience the occasional frustrating artifact roll.
Controller Support for Android Devices
A long-awaited update is finally here. Both PlayStation and Xbox wireless controllers will be compatible.Players should double-check their Android OS version to ensure compatibility. This is a huge win for mobile players who prefer controller-based gameplay, bringing the mobile experience closer to PC and console versions.
Map Improvements:
A few small but welcome changes are coming to the world map and navigation systems. Quest Tracking from Any Map, you will no longer need to manually teleport back to Teyvat to track a quest. Now, you can track quest locations directly, even while inside separate areas like the Serenitea Pot.

Easier Boss Navigation:
If you haven’t unlocked a particular world boss, the Adventurer’s Handbook will now guide you to its nearest teleporter. This feature is especially useful for underground bosses like the Hydro Tulpa and Millennium Pearl Seahorse. Not all bosses will have this function in Version 5.5, but more will be added in future updates.
Serenitea Pot Shopping Cart :
Bulk Buying Made Easy. For players who love decorating their Serenitea Pot, a small but helpful new feature is being introduced. You can now add multiple items to a shopping cart in Tubby’s Realm Depot and check out everything at once. This should make redecorating much faster and more convenient for housing enthusiasts.
Gift Mail Search Box : A Nostalgic Addition
Ever wished you could easily find your past birthday letters from Genshin characters? Now you can.The gift mail storage box will include a search function. You can search by sender name or specific keywords, making it easy to revisit special messages, like all the birthday wishes you’ve received from Xiao or other favorite characters.
