What To Expect In Natlan - The Upcoming New Region In Genshin Impact
While the world of Genshin Impact continues to expand with each update, players are eagerly waiting for the next region to be unveiled. The popular action RPG developed by miHoYo is set to expand its vibrant world with the introduction of Natlan. This new region promises to bring fresh adventures, characters, and mysteries to uncover. As Natlan will debut in Genshin Impact with the launch of Version 5.0, currently scheduled for August 28, excitement among the game's community is reaching a fever pitch. Here’s what we know so far about this new region and why it’s poised to become a favorite among Genshin Impact players. Although some things are not officially confirmed, let's explore what this upcoming region could offer based on existing in-game lore and player speculation.
What is Natlan:
Currently, there are only a few things we know about Natlan. It is the latest addition to the expansive world of Teyvat, home to seven distinct nations each influenced by a different element and god. Natlan is associated with the element of Pyro and it is referred to as the “Land of Dragons.” This new region is anticipated to bring its unique cultural and environmental elements, adding depth and variety to the game's already rich lore.
According to NPCs like Augustus Lovelace and Ranjit, it is located on the other side of Sumeru's desert region, the Great Red Sand, which is also home to natural hot springs created from volcanic activity. The people of this region are grouped into tribes, and each follows different rules. Three of Natlan's current tribes include the Nanatzcayan people, who work as miners near the border with Sumeru, the Meztli people who serve as guides and were once cartographers, and the Huitzlan tribe. According to Neuvillette, war is a constant in Natlan and spreads in the land like an undying flame. Neuvillette also referred to Natlan as the Land of Dragons, and a dragon-like race of creatures called Saurians live in Natlan. They have undergone long-term development and evolution, with a large number of them coexisting with humanity.
What to Expect in Natlan:
Exciting Landscapes and Environments
Genshin Impact is renowned for its breathtaking visuals, and Natlan is expected to be no exception. A recent leak from Genshin Impact showed off one of the region's volcanic areas, an underground location filled with magma and burnt trees. The cave eventually leads to several small ponds of lava attached to larger lava waterfalls. It is hinted at the potential addition of Genshin Impact's first mounts, with early trailers also showing off multiple unique movement styles to explore Natlan's rivers and cliffs. As one character rides a small vehicle up the cliff while another surfs on a shark over water, we can expect more ways to travel the sea, land, and cliffs.
With just a month remaining until the launch of Version 5.0, HoYoverse has given fans plenty of reasons to get excited for the RPG's next playable region. With the early trailers for the region and the first character teaser giving an idea of Natlan's in-game map, we were already given a glimpse at the unique geography of Natlan, as well as showcasing a plethora of characters players will meet in the new region. The region is also expected to receive multiple expansions throughout the updates following its release, with map updates leaked for both Versions 5.1 and 5.2. We will be able to explore the following areas:
1. Basin of Unnumbered Flames
2. The Gushing Lands
3. Sternrock Valley
4. Stonebase Mountains
New Characters and Weapons
One of the most exciting aspects of any new region in Genshin Impact is the introduction of new characters. Natlan is expected to feature new creatures called Saurians, which are dragon-like creatures that we can use to explore the area. HoYoverse recently revealed the first three characters from Natlan to join the game's playable roster, with Mualani and Kinich set to be added as five-star units, while Kachina will be a four-star character. Natlan will also feature another member of the Fatui Harbingers playing a major role, with Il Capitano teased to be a major antagonist within the region's main story. Since Mavuka stood out in the teaser, she is very likely to be the Archon of Natlan. Although she has not been confirmed to be the Pyro nation’s god, we can guess that she will play a very important role in the new chapters.
Natlan is rumored to bring a host of new characters including Lansan, Citlali, Xilonen, Chasca, Ororon, Ajaw, and Mavuka. The latest Natlan Ignition teaser showcased that Xilonen is a sword wielder and a Geo unit, while Chasca is a Cryo unit likely to use a bow. Ororon is also expected to be a bow user, and another Cryo unit named Citlali’s weapon of choice is still unknown. These characters are expected to introduce new combat mechanics and elemental interactions, enriching the gameplay experience.
Expectations of Players
Players are excited to explore the distinct gaming mechanics and obstacles that the future will bring. With recent focus on components like HP manipulation in Fontaine, Elemental Mastery in Sumeru, and Energy Recharge in Inazuma, players are looking forward to what Natlan will offer. Since the mechanics in the preceding locations matched elemental resonances, many suggest that Natlan could introduce an attack-focused gameplay style.
Players are searching for more intricate and varied gaming features, hoping for inventive dynamics that go beyond basic attack bonuses. However, there is also discussion about a cooperative gameplay style in Natlan, where characters could gain abilities through clever swapping and distinct playstyles emphasizing coordination and cooperation. Given that Natlan is mentioned to be in conflict, some anticipate that the emphasis will be on physical damage, with violent clashes and the return of heroes like Eula to dominate the meta. Gamers want varied gameplay experiences that go beyond traditional rules. Players are looking forward to additional components such as elemental auras and character reactions that are on the horizon.
Natlan and 5.0 Speculations
With the new region, we are getting new speculations coming up. The first thing to look at is the enemy material drop rate, which is increased and getting a huge buff to drop rate, and we’ll at least not have to worry about grinding handguards for different characters that came in Inazuma. It is going to be amazing for building multiple characters, and with the increased drop rate that looks to be about 66%, we can expect more, with Nobushi and Kairagi basically getting double rewards. For Abyss mages, ruin guards, and graders, the drop rate is also going to increase. They are also going to give us free draws in the login event in 5.0, and getting an extra 10 new pulls is nice because with these new characters and a whole new region, there will be a bunch of primos that we can get in general from exploration and quests.
The next big thing to talk about is the addition of new artifacts to strongboxes in 5.0. These new artifact sets are going to be Desert Pavilion Chronicle, Flower of Paradise Lost, Nymph's Dream, Vourukasha’s Glow, Marechaussee Hunter, Golden Troupe, Deepwood Memories, and Gilded Dreams. It would be a great help in building characters that we may have had on our accounts for a while now and haven’t got the chance to build. Now we can strongbox them without going into the domain. Can’t wait for these strongbox changes in 5.0, and our Dendro DPS characters are going to be crazy.
Another speculation is the new change to the profile UI. We are going to have a character display tab, name card tag, and the ability to change our name card where people will see it when they look at our profile. We can show how many name cards we have. Also, in the character display, beyond the original eight characters, we can now have up to 12 characters. There are two sliders we can use at the bottom: one that hides character details and another that hides constellations. It’s great if you like showcasing different characters on a rotation so that others can see the builds you do on the characters.
We talked about a few changes, but there are a bunch of changes happening with 5.0. We have so much to look forward to, like players being able to skip floors 9 and 10 in the Abyss, directly claiming the rewards depending on the completion status from the previous period. The reputation system in Natlan will be adjusted to different types of tribal chronicles. For different tribes, we will have different reputation systems that could mean multiple different types of gliders, cosmetics, more primos, and more, allowing a bit of variety. Another thing to look forward to is the Genius Invokation TCG, where new types of moves will be available with a sleight-of-hand mechanic, allowing fun things like stealing a card from somebody’s deck while they are playing.
Conclusion:
Natlan is shaping up to be an exciting addition to Genshin Impact, offering new landscapes to explore, characters to meet, and stories to uncover. As the release approaches, now is the perfect time for players to prepare. Ensuring that your characters are well-leveled, stocking up on resources, and staying updated with the latest news from miHoYo will ensure you’re ready to dive into the new adventures that await. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler in Teyvat or a newcomer to the game, the arrival of Natlan promises to deliver thrilling new experiences that will keep you coming back for more. Happy Gaming!
