Who Is Chiori?

Chiori hails from the Inazuma region, where she operates a renowned tailor shop, the Chioriya Boutique. Known as "The Thundering Seamstress," Chiori is not only skilled in the art of tailoring but also on the battlefield. Her playstyle revolves around strategic positioning, creating Geo Constructs, and utilizing her high defense to deal significant damage. As a 5-star Geo character who wields a sword, Chiori excels in sub-DPS roles, particularly in teams that utilize Geo constructs or characters. She can adapt to various compositions, offering a flexible option for players looking to add a powerful Geo element user to their roster.

Chiori’s Skills and Talents:

Chiori is a 5-star Geo sword user who excels in a sub-DPS role, particularly when paired with other Geo characters that summon constructs. Her abilities center around dealing area-of-effect (AOE) Geo damage and supporting teammates through strategic effects. Here’s a closer look at her kit:

Normal Attack: Weaving Blade

Chiori performs up to four rapid sword strikes with her normal attack. Charging this attack consumes stamina and unleashes two rapid sword strikes that deal increased damage. Her plunging attack deals AoE damage to enemies upon impact, making her versatile in both ground and aerial combat.

Elemental Skill: Fluttering Hasode

Chiori dashes forward, summoning an automaton doll called Tamoto. After this dash, she performs an upward sweep, dealing AoE Geo damage based on both her attack and defense stats. This skill has both tap and hold options holding the skill button allows you to aim the direction of Chiori’s dash. Tamoto attacks nearby enemies, dealing AoE Geo damage at intervals based on Chiori’s stats. If there are nearby Geo Constructs, or new ones are created, an additional Tamoto is summoned next to your active character. This additional Tamoto is independent and follows its own duration timer, adding more versatility to her damage output.

Elemental Burst: Hiyoku: Twin Blades

When using her Elemental Burst, Chiori unsheathes her twin blades, executing masterful slices that deal massive AoE Geo damage. This burst scales off both her attack and defense, giving her flexibility in both damage types. The clean cuts and precision of the attack make it visually stunning and highly effective for clearing groups of enemies.

Ascension Materials for Chiori

To fully ascend Chiori and unlock her maximum potential, you'll need to farm specific materials. Here's the complete list:

- Prithiva Topaz Sliver (x1)

- Prithiva Topaz Fragment (x9)

- Prithiva Topaz Chunk (x9)

- Prithiva Topaz Gemstone (x6)

- Spectral Husk (x18)

- Spectral Heart (x30)

- Spectral Nucleus (x36)

- Artificed Spare Clockwork Component — Coppelia (x46)

- Dendrobium (x168) - Mora (420,000)

Each ascension stage increases Chiori’s base stats, such as her health, attack, defense, and critical rate. Along the way, you’ll also earn Acquaint Fates that can be used to make wishes on standard banners.

Passive Talents:

• Tailor-Made:

This passive trigger different effects depending on whether Chiori follows up her Elemental Skill with a normal attack or another Elemental Skill. If you perform a normal attack, she gains the "Tailoring" effect, giving her Geo infusion for five seconds. Alternatively, using the Elemental Skill grants the "Tapestry" effect, which switches characters and grants the entire party the "Seize the Moment" buff. This buff allows your active character to perform coordinated attacks, dealing AoE Geo damage.

• The Finishing Touch:

Chiori gains a 20% Geo damage bonus for 20 seconds when a nearby character creates a Geo Construct, enhancing her overall Geo damage output in Geo-heavy teams.

• Exploration Talent:

Brocaded Collar's Beauteous Silhouette: If any party member is wearing an alternate outfit or wind glider (other than the default ones), the entire party’s movement speed increases by 10%. This passive doesn’t stack with other speed bonuses and doesn’t work in domains or the Spiral Abyss.

Talent Materials

Chiori's talents can be leveled up using the following materials:

For one talent:

- Crown of Insight (x1)

- Teachings of Light (x3)

- Guide to Light (x21)

- Philosophies of Light (x38)

- Spectral Husk (x6)

- Spectral Heart (x22)

- Spectral Nucleus (x31)

- Lightless Silk String (x6)

- Mora (1,652,500)

To fully upgrade all three of her talents, you'll need three times these amounts.

Weapons and Artifacts

Chiori’s best-in-slot weapon is Uraku Misugiri, which is also her signature weapon. This sword offers a substantial DEF boost and an elemental damage bonus when Chiori’s defense reaches 3000, making it perfect for her kit. If you don’t have her signature weapon, the Wolf-Fang is a strong alternative, followed by Primordial Jade Cutter or Mistsplitter Reforged.

For artifact sets, Golden Troupe or Husk of Opulent Dreams are her best options. Husk excels when you’re utilizing her Elemental Burst frequently, while Golden Troupe provides more consistent damage output. Focus on DEF%, Geo Damage Bonus, and CRIT stats for her artifacts, as defense scaling plays a major role in her overall effectiveness.

Constellations:

Unlocking Chiori’s Constellations further enhances her abilities, making her even more powerful as a sub-DPS character. Here’s what you get with each constellation:

1. Six Paths of Sage Silkcraft (C1):

Increases the AoE of Tamoto’s attacks by 50%. If you have another Geo party member, Chiori summons an additional Tamoto after using her Elemental Skill. This constellation significantly boosts her synergy with Geo teams, allowing for extra damage output.

2. In Five Colors Dyed (C2):

Summons a simplified automaton doll, Kinu, every three seconds after using her Elemental Burst. These Kinu dolls deal AoE Geo damage and vanish after one attack. This ability increases her onfield presence by constantly dealing extra damage in the form of Kinu attacks.

3. Four Brocade Embellishments (C3):

Increases the level of her Elemental Skill by three, further enhancing her damage output and utility.

4. A Tailor’s Three Courtesies (C4):

For eight seconds after triggering the effects of her Tailor-Made passive, Chiori can summon additional Kinu dolls when the active character lands a normal, charged, or plunging attack. This constellation ensures a steady stream of extra damage from the dolls.

5. Two Silken Plumules (C5):

Increases the level of her Elemental Burst by three, boosting its overall damage.

6. Sole Principle Pursuit (C6):

Reduces the cooldown of her Elemental Skill by 12 seconds and increases her normal attack damage after triggering Tailor-Made’s effects. This final constellation makes her a formidable force in combat, significantly improving her uptime and damage potential.

Best free-to-play-friendly teams tested with Chiori

• Mono Geo (Gorou/Itto/Chiori/Zhongli):

This is, in our opinion, her best team. It’s an easy, high-DPS comp with no energy issues thanks to Favonius Warbow on Gorou and Chiori’s particle generation. Clear times were noticeably harder without Chiori.

• Double Geo Flex Core (Yoimiya/Fischl/Chiori/Zhongli), (Hu Tao/Xingqiu/Chiori/Zhongli), (Wriothesley/Shenhe/Chiori/Zhongli):

This is a very flexible core. Pairing these characters with strong DPS options clears content efficiently, especially in skill-based teams with no energy recharge issues. I expect this team to get even better as more Geo construct supports are added to the game.

• Navia Construct Teams (Navia/Fischl/Chiori/Zhongli):

This team shines in boss fights, with no energy issues.

• Albedo + Chiori (Navia/Albedo/Chiori/Charlotte), (Fischl/Albedo/Chiori/Zhongli):

If you don’t own Albedo, we wouldn’t recommend pulling for him. His flower constantly gets destroyed by bosses, an issue that’s persisted since his release. That said, he’s still usable, but you’ll need to be smart about flower placement. If HoYoverse ever fixes Albedo, he’ll be much stronger.

Is Chiori Worth Pulling?

If you already have a strong Geo team or are looking to enhance your sub-DPS capabilities, Chiori is a fantastic choice. Her kit is built around utility and AOE damage, offering both defensive and offensive boosts. If you’re invested in characters like Itto, Albedo, or other Geo construct-based characters, Chiori can fit seamlessly into your lineup. Her ability to deal damage through both attack and defense scaling, as well as her synergy with Geo constructs, makes her a valuable asset. While she may not outperform dedicated DPS characters like Itto or Zhongli in certain aspects, her utility and adaptability set her apart. Chiori’s sub-DPS capabilities make her an excellent pick for players who favor Geo teams.

Pros:

Chiori can wield Harbinger of Dawn, which is a great option if you don’t have a high-refinement 5-star weapon. It’s a powerful stat stick. Chiori's skill uptime is 100%, making her damage output consistently high. Characters with such strong skills don’t rely as much on bursts, which is a highly underrated aspect. The fact that I don’t need to funnel particles into Chiori is a huge relief, allowing her to slot into teams seamlessly.

Her playstyle is a blast. The quick swap mechanics and polished animations make her a fun and versatile teammate. I know many people lean towards main DPS characters, but to me, teambuilding is where the real fun lies in Genshin. Chiori fits into multiple roles effortlessly! She also acts as a Geo battery, consistently generating particles for Geo characters. This utility keeps energy issues at bay. Looking ahead, I think Chiori will only get stronger with the future release. There’s potential for synergy with a dual ATK%/DEF% buffer or a Geo construct support offering better offensive buffs than Zhongli. A Geo healer for Furina teams would also make her even more valuable.

On the design front, Chiori is simply stunning. I’m usually all about the gameplay, but I can't help but appreciate her aesthetic and personality. The minimalistic animations on her dolls also prevent screen clutter, which is a big plus during battles. We love how her dolls' slower attack speed prevents unintended Geo reactions. This makes her synergy with a double Geo core, like Zhongli, even better.

Cons:

Though we adore Chiori, she’s not without flaws. One issue is the lack of utility in her burst. While many characters face this issue, bursts often end up being little more than a flashy nuke with i-frames. With two active abilities, each should feel special, and I think a DEF% shred or Geo resistance shred would have elevated her burst. I’m currently running her with the Golden Troupe set instead of Husk, but the point remains utility could be better.

Another issue is that her on-field playstyle is locked behind C6, as her Geo infusion only becomes useful at that point. While this doesn’t bother me, I feel like playstyles shouldn’t be gated by constellations. Her C1 should also be part of her base kit. It feels like a subtle nudge for players to pull for her C1, though, in reality, it’s not necessary for many of the teams using her on. Still, it’s a clear spend money move.

While the decision of pulling her is completely up to you, this guide provides an exciting glimpse into her potential to become a key figure in many teams. Whether you're planning to pull for Chiori or look into building her, we hope our article has been helpful.

Happy gaming, prepare well, and may your pulls be fortunate!
