DENIA SubDPS or Support Build Guide Wuthering Waves

Denia is a highly versatile, dual-mode sub-DPS whose playstyle hinges on two distinct mechanics: Fusion Burst and Tune Strain. Her flexibility allows her to seamlessly slot into specialized compositions where she provides robust debuffs, crowd control, and powerful off-field application.

Here is everything you need to know to build and optimize Denia.

Core Kit & Mechanics

Denia's gameplay loop revolves around shifting between two primary forms to build and consume resources, culminating in a massive nuke.

The Stance Dancing Loop

  • Stagecraft Form: Denia builds Void Particles through her attacks. Casting her Resonance Liberation (Final Act - Stagecraft Form) deals Fusion DMG and transitions her into Breakdown Form. This grants Entropy Shift: Breakdown Form, which passively restores Void Particles over time.

  • Breakdown Form: In this state, Void Particles are consumed to generate Conformal Charge, which empowers her next ultimate. Once fully charged, casting Final Act - Breakdown Form unleashes her primary nuke.

  • The Exit: After the nuke, she reverts to Stagecraft Form, gains a 30% ATK boost (Entropy Shift: Stagecraft Form), and leaves behind an Erosion Field. This field persists off-field, pulling enemies in and dealing continuous Resonance Liberation DMG.

Resonance Modes

Your team composition determines which mode Denia should prioritize:

  • Fusion Burst Mode: Ideal for Fusion Burst DoT teams. She frequently inflicts Fusion Burst on enemies and grants all teammates a 30% Fusion DMG Bonus.

  • Tune Strain Mode: Built for Tune Break teams. She applies Tune Strain - Shifting, resets debuff durations, and grants teammates +10 Break Boost (scaling significantly when Off-Tune Buildup Efficiency hits 150%).

Talents, Weapons, and Echoes

Skill Priority

To maximize her damage output and resource generation, prioritize her kit in this order:

  1. Forte Circuit (Core mechanic scaling)

  2. Resonance Liberation (Primary nuke)

  3. Resonance Skill

  4. Normal Attack

  5. Intro Skill

  • 1-Cost: ATK%

  • Substats: CRIT DMG > CRIT Rate > Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus > ATK%

Optimal Rotation

Denia’s rotation is fast-paced and designed to quickly cycle through her forms before returning the field to your Main DPS.

1.Enter and Prepare Stagecraft:

Trigger Denia's Intro Skill, immediately follow up with a full Normal Attack combo (ending on the 4th Basic Attack in Stagecraft Form). Cast your Resonance Skill (Phantom Bubble) and your Echo Skill.

2.Shift to Breakdown Form:

Cast Resonance Liberation (Final Act of Stagecraft Form) to transition into Breakdown Form and trigger your Void Particle regeneration.

3.Build Conformal Charge:

Cast Resonance Skill (Banish) twice. Execute a full 4-hit Basic Attack combo in Breakdown Form, and finish with a final Resonance Skill (Beckon). This sequence consumes your particles to max out your Conformal Charge.

4.Nuke and Exit:

Cast your fully charged Resonance Liberation (Final Act - Breakdown Form) to drop your nuke, summon the Erosion Field, and immediately use your Outro Skill to pass buffs to the next character.

Best Team Compositions

Denia shines when paired with characters who can exploit her specific Resonance Modes.

  • Premium Fusion Burst I: Aemeath, Denia, Lupa

  • Premium Fusion Burst II: Aemeath, Denia, Chisa

  • Premium Tune Strain: Luuk Herssen, Denia, Mornye

  • Denia Main DPS: Denia, Lynae, Mornye

  • F2P Accessible: Encore, Denia, Verina

Sequence Nodes (Constellations)

If you are pulling for Denia's duplicates, here are the major stopping points that drastically alter her performance:

  • Sequence 2 (The Best Value): A massive spike for her sub-DPS utility. In Fusion Burst Mode, she provides an additional 50% Fusion DMG Bonus and 10% Fusion RES ignore. In Tune Strain Mode, she doubles the Off-Tune Level and provides +20 Tune Break Boost. It also buffs her Breakdown Form Resonance Skill damage. Stop here for the best return on investment.

  • Sequence 3 (The Rotation Fixer): Significantly boosts the scaling of her Breakdown Form ultimate. It also maxes out her Dark Core and Void Particle gauges the moment she takes the field, drastically speeding up her rotation.

  • Sequence 6 (The Capstone): A raw stat stick that heavily boosts ATK and Fusion DMG. Her Erosion Field is massively upgraded: Fusion Burst triggers deal max stack damage without consuming the stacks, and Tune Strain targets receive an extra debuff that amplifies all incoming skill damage.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Exceptional Dual-Utility: Excels in both Fusion Burst DoT and Tune Strain Break compositions.

  • Fast Field Time: Her quick sub-DPS rotation ensures your Main DPS stays on-field longer.

  • High Off-Field Presence: Her Erosion Field provides excellent crowd control and off-field Fusion Burst application.

  • Self-Buffing: Transitioning forms naturally grants her ATK% and damage buffs, keeping her personal damage competitive.

Weaknesses

  • Niche Buffing: Outside of specific Fusion or Tune Strain teams, she lacks the universal DMG amplification of broader supports.

  • S0 Damage Ceiling: While her personal damage is solid, she cannot comfortably carry as a Main DPS at Sequence 0 without heavy investment.
